Applegate is an eco-build house set in the peaceful crofting township of Camustianavaig in the Braes area of Skye.
The house sits in half an acre of acre of ground and sleeps four people. It was completed in the spring of 2014 and is one of a small group of five, locally designed and built houses.
The house is much-loved by us and Applegate is an old family name. It is comfortably furnished with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the garden and the views beyond. From the house you can see Ben Tianavaig and across to the Sound to the Isle of Raasay with the extinct volcano of Dun Caan in the distance. The open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area is great for socialising and relaxing and the wood-burning stove is perfect for the cooler evenings.
Despite it’s rural location Applegate is an unhurried ten minutes drive away from Portree, with its picturesque harbour, variety of shops and good places to eat.
Applegate’s central location provides an ideal base for exploring the Isle of Skye. More local to the house is the beautiful Tianavaig Bay, which is home to a variety of wildlife. Further along road towards The Braes is one of the few sandy beaches on Skye.
