Making plans for 2015? There are many opportunities if you find yourself staying on The Isle of Skye.
The full line-up for Skye Live, a new two-day festival to be staged in Portree this Easter, has now been revealed. A total of ten acts will perform at ‘The Lump’ — the traditional home of the Isle of Skye Highland Games. Skye Live is the brainchild of local promoters, who are hoping to go some way to fill the void for local festival-goers.
Skye Live may not be everyone’s choice activity, so how about getting out and exploring Skye on the look out for fossils? Even in these technological days there are many of us who still enjoy being a ‘palaeontologist.’
In today’s news it was reported that ‘a team of palaeontologists studied fossil fragments of skulls, teeth, vertebrae and an upper arm bone unearthed on Skye over the past 50 years. They had given it a Gaelic name, Dearcmhara, to reflect its connection with the Hebrides.’
One of our favourite places to explore is Staffin Beach and this photo was taken in the height of summer 2014. I wonder whether we’ll be lucky and find anything interesting in 2015?
